Victims: One murder on April 14th, one on May 4th, one on June 21st; all victims are female, in their late teens or early twenties. They have bite marks either in their necks or wrists, and were drained of blood until death. They didn't appear to be in any pain when they died. Very little witness report.

Crime: While a few people have been investigating, Edgeworth seems most on-top of the thing. Trucy was investigating too, but got too far into the mystery and her father, Wright, sent her away for her own safety. Zelman has been prodding people with information and false rumors, especially enjoying spreading the rumor that the killer is some mysterious, blood-sucking vampire. Because, pffft, those don't exist. 8)

Magic: Zelman has set up a magical barrier (chalk circle, about twenty feet wide) in the town square that vampires cannot enter without his permission. Which is entirely rediculous considering he'll probably never use it, but still.

Comment here with anything you'd like to say about how I play Zelman. If you're going to give any kind of criticism please make it constructive, or else I won't know how to make him better. Keep in mind the AU setting (though it shouldn't have any dramatic impact on his personality). Feel free to also just comment on little things you like so far or express your undying love for me or whatever makes you happy. |Db

Comments will be screened. Thank you~! ♥

• Zelman is very used to being the one in control.
• Girls usually swoon over him and think he's amazing.
• Alcohol, poison, drugs, caffeine, etc. don't work on him.
• He hates formal dress like you wouldn't believe.
• His hat is like his best friend. Don't mess with it, seriously.
• He's very vain and takes good care of his appearance, especially his hair.
• His room is unreasonably big and he has lots of furniture he doesn't need.
• He uses both formal diction and slang when he talks normally. He sort of combines them.
• He collects artwork, but has a thing for vases and really ugly purple lampshades.

Black Blood Brothers vampires have very vaguely established abilities, weaknesses, and politics. While this version of Zelman has been severely powered-down from his canon incarnation (where he is eight-hundred years old and pretty much unstoppable), if he still comes off as a godmod or if you have any questions with technicalities or something I may have missed, please feel free to contact me and we can talk about it. ♥

PHYSICAL STUFF:
• Vampires are unnaturally beautiful/handsome, Zelman in particular.
• Like all vampires, his skin is paler than usual and he never has color in his face (i.e. blushing).
• His eyes are the color of blood, which is pretty unnatural, but he will cover up this with a lie about how he's an albino. It matches up with the pale skin thing and gives a good reason as to why he would dye his hair (even though his hair is naturally blond anyway--but inconsistencies, who needs to know about them?)
• He has pointy incisors that are pretty obvious, though he will say that he just filed his teeth to a point when he was younger on a dare. They grow longer when he feeds or is particularly angry, and when he bares his fangs and emits his creepy killer aura, it's usually enough to drive off most predators.
• He gives off more body heat than a normal person due to his bloodline ability, Eye Ignite.
• He has no heartbeat, doesn't need to breathe, has no reflection, and doesn't have to sleep.
• Doesn't turn into a bat or mist or anything like that.
• Sunlight makes him drowsy and more irritated than usual, but otherwise has no effect. He feels much more energetic at night, and his emotions are much more smooth and calm when the sun is down.
• Silver hurts him a lot. Just being around it causes him unease.
• Holy items aren't as affective, but they can injure him with time.
• Most other things (garlic, holy water, stakes, etc) are ineffectual.
• It's possible to set up wards in a doorway or in a circle so that a vampire cannot enter the area protected without permission. This applies to Zelman, too.

POWERS:
• "Eye Ignite" is his bloodline ability (creation and manipulation of fire). Can reach up to 1000C, though he cannot create nearly as much of it at a time as he could in canon.
• Zelman's bloodline that he inherited from Asura is so strong that he can "hear it's voice". It's what he has in place of a conscience, really. It's what he dictates his life by.
• He's a bit stronger and faster than a normal person, though his speed doesn't apply to long-distance things such as running. You will never see Zelman run, because he is a lazy bastard.
• He has refined senses (particularly smell), and can see in the dark. He's very in-tune with the heartbeats of others.
• He is also fire-proof, can walk on walls, and can perform gravity-defying jumps. He isn't about to go doing this in public, though.
• He can regenerate limbs that have been lost or heal up holes in his chest pretty fast, but the bigger or more grave the injury, the longer it will take and the more energy he'll burn doing it, meaning he'll be hungrier for more blood than usual. Lost limbs/blood turn to ash when they're no longer present. If he looses a hand he can't exactly stick it back on.

POLITICS, WUT:
• Zelman has sired no other vampires that anyone's aware of, and probably isn't about to start.
• "Black Blood" refers to vampires.
• "Red Blood" refers to humans.
• "Old Blood" refers to vampires that have lived more than a hundred years.
• "Source Blood" are original vampires that started bloodlines. Very few are left.
• "Fledglings" are young vampires.
• There are three main vampire powers, the Snake, the Dog, and the Dark. Zelman isn't aligned with any of them.

OMNOMNOM:
• He needs blood once every months or so, unless he's had to heal.
• The blood of virgin maidens is said to be worth it's weight in gold to vampires. Most tasty or something.
• His bite won't turn you into a vampire, which is pretty rad.
• The sensation upon being bitten by his kind of vampire is said to feel "better than sex". No fooling.
• This sensation is highly addictive, especially if you've been bitten more than once.
• "Resonance" is an effect that occurs after being bitten, and feels like they are whoever bit them. They'll flash back and forth between their own senses and what the vampire sees, smells, feels, tastes, hears, and even things. They'll be able to tell if said vampire is lying or not, for instance. However, this effect only lasts about an hour and doesn't work both ways.
• If someone were to drink Zelman's blood, they would turn into a vampire (a very painful process, btw).

Zelman was born in Poland sometime during the 18th century as a rich aristocrat's son. His father was a very wealthy landowner with a profession in law, and so was usually busy. He never seemed happy with his lazy, good-for-nothing son and frequently told Zelman he was pretty much worthless. He restricted Zelman from the outside world time and time again, expecting him to study and become a great judge much like himself. Zelman always ignored his father, though, to the point where he'd go out of his way to be disobedient. No kind of punishment ever really got to him. Zelman remained unchained by his father's ideals, even though his reputation among the older men of the city was the cost. Long story short, they hated each other's guts.

His mother was a kind woman, but frequently fell ill and spent much of her time in bed. She encouraged him to follow whatever dream he wanted, and liked it very much when Zelman would play the piano for her. Zelman honestly loved her, but after a while she fell victim to a touch of insanity (though they're still not sure what caused it, Zelman believes it was the demanding and sometimes violent nature of his father that started it). Zelman began to resent her for being so weak. If he could stand up to his father, why couldn't she?

Because of the collective conditions at home, Zelman pretty much grew up alone. And he never really minded, finding people to make for horrible company. He felt surrounded by idiots and people who just didn't really have a reason to live except to do what other's wanted. Despite his strong feelings against them, however, he spent a fair amount of his free time out in town, meeting local kids his age, making friends, and flirting with girls. He acquired quite the reputation. Adults hated him, kids couldn't get enough of him. What he really enjoyed, however, was walking out in the woods alone or hiding away in the library, reading up on everything under the sun.

He was, as his teachers called him, "wasted talent", since he possessed an amazing ability to learn. He understood things that most people couldn't get, and created little inventions almost on a whim. Some people thought he was a genius of sorts, but he hated the idea of structured education and standardized rules. He never cooperated, never achieved, and most importantly, never really tried to get anywhere besides what his father called his "little dream world". He was smart, alright, but he hated learning what people told him to learn.

By the age of eighteen, he was still doing pretty much whatever he wanted. He'd showed no signs of trying or even wanting to go into a vocation of any kind, and was perfectly intent to just live off the vast fortune of his family.

One day, however, he met Asura.

After going through dozens of teachers, his father brought in Asura as a last attempt. Asura was supposedly a professor from some far-off country that specialized in anything and everything. Despite Zelman's coldness to him at first and his blatant hatred of conformity, he found Asura's ideas to be interesting and his methods of teaching to be fascinating. Asura persisted and allowed Zelman to learn about anything he wished. Zelman found himself really liking the man after a while, and they became what could be considered friends. Asura acted differently around Zelman than he did around other people--less professional and more like a father-figure. Zelman acted like himself around Asura, and that was more than he'd ever allowed anyone to see.

Asura introduced Zelman to the occult (without his father knowing, of course) and Zelman became instantly fascinated with the whole idea. It was like studying faerie tales to him. One night, however, Asura revealed to Zelman that he was, in fact, a vampire. Zelman didn't actually believe him until after he'd drained a pint of his blood. It goes without saying that the conversation between the two of them was pretty awkward.

Asura asked him to keep it a secret, and Zelman complied. It was the least he could do, considering Asura still hadn't abandoned him after the incident like any smart person would. By far the strangest and most interesting person Zelman had ever met, he and Asura talked about it in secret. Asura admitted that he would like to turn Zelman into a vampire himself as a continuation of his bloodline. He offered to take Zelman with him in his travels across the world as well, and to teach him everything he'd possibly want to know. He was promised immortality and power beyond his wildest dreams, if he could stay alive long enough. But most of all, he was offered an escape from his prison--the home that kept him caged up.

Zelman was hesitant about such a deal, because becoming undead meant being instantly feared and hated by anyone who knew; that was a pretty big burden. He'd have to keep all knowledge of his own kind a secret to people who couldn't be trusted, and he had to learn about a whole other world he hadn't even known existed until a few weeks back. By the end of the month, however, his mother passed away and his father retreated into his self-pity. Zelman found living at home unbearable; full of too many bad memories and things he despised. He met with Asura as soon as he could, and agreed to become a part of his bloodline. They left that night, far away from the city, to a place that was safe for the both of them, where Zelman was then turned into a vampire (a very, very painful experience). He spent the next couple of weeks getting used to the fact that he was, technically, dead.

Zelman had been traveling with Asura for a little over thirty years, learning all about vampire politics and other fun things. Throughout the vampire world he became known as "Red-Eyed Zelman" because of his peculiar eye color, which was subsequently switched with the "Red-Eyed Murderer" because of how he killed people for fun and profit. Mostly fun. He was headed for France and the lands beyond with Asura when he suddenly stumbled into another strange place--Albergo Chiaro, an island where he is now separated from his mentor and, for better or for worse, the rest of the world.

"The next time we meet we may be rivals, but... I look forward to it."

At first glance, Zelman comes off as reasonably polite, charming, playful... But also a bit flighty, conceited, and sometimes even sadistic. He's almost always smiling and shows little emotion besides amusement, making him hard to read. Many people could mistake him as someone fairly harmless due to his sometimes childish or silly tendencies--he enjoys being a brat for no reason, he walks around barefoot, he loves sweets and junk foods, and he has the potential to be astoundingly lazy, especially when the sun is still up--but there's no denying he's also very clever, and he's much more dangerous than he usually lets on. He has a wild sense of charisma, backed up by his unique ideals, and people can't help but be drawn to his strangeness.

This, of course, is not his real self, but a mask he's constructed after fifty years. His real self is someone with no morality, and he's a complete sociopath. Despite any goodness he may show towards people, he's still incredibly selfish, rather uncaring when it comes to other people's problems, and has very few issues with using other people to his advantage or keeping them close purely for his own amusement. He's easily bored and very easily angered or offended--even though he may never show it. He considers himself evil, but believes that evil isn't that bad of a choice, all things considered. He loves violence, chaos, and enjoys messing with people on all sides of the battlefield.

Even so, despite his dislike of other people and his strong emotions, the one thing he values above anything else is freedom. He lives only according to his existence as a vampire, and that existance dictates that he is to protect and serve his bloodline until the day he dies; that is the one truth about him. He is sometimes at-odds with whether or not maintain friendships with people. Due to the nature of his existance (being a vampire, he will eventually have to choose someone to help continue on his bloodline, and that won't exactly work if they hate his guts) he knows that he cannot remain alone forever. However, people are annoying, which makes this a problem. It's a work-in-progress, if you will.
